O Come, Let us worship!
“The Book of Common Prayer: a book so scriptural that it is full of scripture from one end to the other, and built altogether upon it”
– Bp John Medley
Book of Common Prayer (1962, Canada)
The Book of Common Prayer provides a rich diet for the Christian life. The worship we are privileged to offer Almighty God according to the Book of Common Prayer is altogether scriptural. In fact, fully two-thirds of the Book of Common Prayer consists of extracts from the Bible. Our Prayer Book's course of prayer and praise is scriptural both in form and content.
Worshipping the Lord in the Beauty of Holiness
Our dignified form of worship allows us to prayerfully enter into the presence of Almighty God. Together, turning towards altar and cross, our Lord's gracious sacrifice for our salvation is front-and-centre. In turn, love meets love: "And here we offer and present unto thee, O Lord, ourselves, our souls and bodies, to be a reasonable, holy, and living sacrifice unto thee." (BCP, p. 85).
